comments 'Listeners choice' for me has been soft jazz ever since, as a DJ I played Cal Jader's "Black Orchid" in the early 60's. Thus I've gathered an enviable assortment of this kind of music, but in the whole collection, my greedy, soft-jazz-loving fingers have fondled no album better than this one, and all from an artist I'd never heard of until I stumbled into his work on "Ultraviolet", also HIGHLY recommended (from Hip Sway). Standring writes most of the songs. Every cut is a gemstone, "Kaleidoscope-Constellation-Through The Looking Glass" among them, BUT I challenge anybody to find something more lovely than the title track "Soul Express". Trust me if I could write and play like that, well suffice to say it's a song that can bring tears to the most grizzled, tin-eared, rapping punk rocker. Regarding 'Soul Express', buy it you'll like it. ; ) |
