A woman getting dressed to go out at night will always say; "Do you think I look fat?", regular as clockwork!
How on earth are we lesser mortals supposed to respond to such rhetoric?
"No of course not dear you look wonderful" might be the safe way.
"You're just saying that" she no doubt would respond.
Unfortunately it's a lose-lose situation for men. I personally have a new method that seems to be quite effective. Women have now learned to ask me this question with great caution....
"I look fat in this dress don't I"
"Bloody enormous!" is usually my retort. "Never seen anybody, nay anything, as big in my entire life! In fact would you step back a little I'm getting a little crowded here!"
It's not the most tactful way I know but I usually get a little peace and quiet.
