"Chris, recently I was listening to our local jazz station
WZJZ 100.1 in Fort Myers Florida and they played your song "Love
& Paragraphs". Let me just say that it is, in my opinion,
the most beautiful song I've ever heard! It just brings me a
sense of pure joy and happiness. I would like to know when you
are going to be in Florida. Our area is really big on Jazz,
and I would love to hear you live. Looking forward to seeing
you very soon. Take care and keep the hits coming! - Jorge Cardona

"Chris, Just got to say I just discovered you and your
music in an airport shuttle ride of all places! I was up very
early heading to the airport yesterday morning in Orange County,
California after completing a two day seminar and the shuttle
driver had nothing to say but had on a music station that I
prayed would say who you were when the music was over. They
did. I had a pen but paper in the back of the shuttle so I scribbled
all over my hand! It was your Love and Paragraphs hit and I
immediately got home and went to the store and ended up getting
some of your past work because they don't have your new release
in the small town I live in yet. I'm going on and on about you
to everyone I know! Your music just makes you feel good. Huge
new fan! WAY TO GO! You're amazing!" Mark Weber

"chris-- Soul Express is heavenly. I've been listening
to jazz guitarists for nearly two decades and rarely, if ever,
can I recall being entranced from BEGINNING TO END. I've only
recently discovered you but friends and family will be receiving
your album as a gift, because they NEED to hear you. This album
is extraordinary. Sublime. I'm going to find out if the laser
in a CD player can actually burn a hole in a cd! Ilisten to
all the "monsters", Montgomery, Benson, Metheny, Ritenour, Carlton,
White, Santana, Klugh, Malone, and now I'm adding a new name
to my list...Standring! keep up the phenomenal playing and composing...you've
got a new fan". --Dan

"Chris - just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate
your CD Soul Express. I have bought many CDs before and I have
never owned one that I liked all the songs on the CD. I cannot
say which one is my favorite, but I absolutely love this CD.
I listen to it at least twice a day and it never gets old to
me. I look forward to future CD’s from you. - Steve"

I heard "Love & Paragraphs" exactly 4 days ago on a Baltimore
radio station. I was like, "holy crap, who was that! Give
me a name, please!". Then I heard it again, Friday. I noted
the time and looked up the station on-line and got a play list.
Guess who is now registered to get a copy? Wow! Love the tune.
Best, SaintFu

What
the people are saying...
"Replete with the intoxicating west
coast vibe that Standring effortlessly incorporates into
much of his work...certain
to get in your head and not go away...Standrings soulful
guitar shimmers throughout...the stuff of which musical
dreams are made...delivers another absolute stunner...a
joy from beginning to end...all set to be one of the sensations
of the year - Smooth Jazz Therapy
"Full
of catchy hooks and sublime electric guitar playing with
a cohesive style that fits just right. Love & Paragraphs
carries on the guitarist's trademark style - improvisational
jazz sensibilities built around perfectly crafted pop songs"
- Brian Soergal, Smooth Jazz News
"These compositions complements guitar funkness with
ease. Chris came to play! And his "groove patrol"
flanked his playing style all the way through the record.
I feel this is (Soul Express) Chris's best album to date!
This CD has a good long standing Groove to it. Its Strong!
Track after Track, these songs were placed musically in
conjunction to each other perfectly. Hey..Just let the whole
album play! Chris on this disc reminds me of the old days
when George Benson played on CTI back in the 70's."
- Terrill J. Hanna, Contemporary Jazz.com
"Groovalicious
is Chris Standring's throwback to an era where disco was
only the queen in music. Groovalicious is king!"
- Norm Breest, Jazz Review.com
"When
I check out new tracks, I listen for four things: production,
performance, songcraft, and - most importantly - groove. Chris'
"Miss Downtown Sugar Girl" flies off the scale on
each one. It's one of those rare, infectious, incredible songs
that makes everyone who I've played it for nod their head
and say "day-am!" If I need to pump up the pace
of my mix show or energize a crowd when I'm spinning in a
club, "Miss Downtown Sugar Girl" is my go-to secret
weapon. With a song this scorching, I can only imagine how
hot the actual "sugar girl" is who inspired it!"
- Rafe Gomez/The Groove Boutique
"Chris Standring is one of Britain's most talented jazz
guitarists, as anyone who listens to his album Shades Of Cool
(Passion jazz) will agree." - Mike Bradley, London

Sway beautifully invokes a sense of old-school jazz sensibilities
mixed with acid-jazz ambience."
- Jonathan Widran, All Music Guide/Jazziz
"From
Wes Montgomery infected octave melodies, to funky wah-wah
pedal laced rhythm parts to some tasteful blues based licks,
Standring covers it all and with authority." - Darin
Scott, Tune Up Magazine
"Standring
integrates himself among the musically elite and develops
a style all his own." - Tina Salazar, Gavin
"Listen
to the killer hook in the title track on Hip Sway (enhanced
by Richard Elliot's sax) and just try not to be swept away
by Standring's lyricism." - Brian Soergel, Smooth
Jazz Vibes
Standring
has produced a winner - The catchy tunes on Hip Sway solidify
Standring as a pioneering guitarist of this new decade. -
this person knows the meaning of 'cool' - Hip Sway establishes
many swinging moods and feelings, which are delectable and
vast." - Fred Scott, ContemporaryJazz.com
"Benson-like
precision and technique, and brilliant vibe-intensive production."
- Jonathan Widran, Jazziz
"Chris
Standring's 'Steven' (Instinct) is a song we believed in from
the first listen. It has all the elements, simplicity, elegance,
top-notch production values, and a melody you get right away,
the kind of melody you could be humming after just one play.
It sounds like the kind of song that will not only work today,
but will also be in our library a year or two from now. We
moved "Steven" right into our power rotation - four
plays a day - after hearing it just a couple of times on the
air." - Blake Lawrence, Radio & Records/KKSF
San Francisco
"Chris
Standring's debut album on " Instinct Records "
is one of the primest CDs I've ever had the pleasure of listening
to. - one of the finest debuts to come in a long time."
- Smooth Jazz Vibes
"Standring
has both taste and discipline. He is the most promising jazz
guitarist to emerge from England since Ronnie Jordan and Peter
White." - Larry Hollowel, WJCD 105.3 FM
"Some
of the best guitar work around." - Smooth Jazz
105.9
"One
of my favourite guitarists!" - Peter White
